Only One Super StarOnly One Counter King

Tamil cinema has always witnessed the dominance of several comedians over the others in the business in different time frames, and one of the most popular comedians of Kollywood who ruled the roost for several decades is Goundamani.

About Comedy King

Born as Subramani Karuppiah on May 25, 1939 in Vallakondapuram village near Pollachi, Goundamani earned his screen name after acting in the drama Oor Gounder, where he delivered an impressive performance. Right from the 1960s, where he played uncredited roles alongside the legendary actor Nagesh in movies like Thenum Paalum till mid 2000s, Goundamani has been rocking the industry with his unmatched humour.
Having acted in more than 300 movies, Goundamani has been popular for his combination with Actor Senthil who usually plays his sidekick who gets trolled and attacked for his funny acts that land Gounder in trouble, and the combo has delivered numerous superhit comedy tracks ranging from Karagattakaran of the 80s till Chokka Thangam of the early 2000s.
Not just Goundamani - Senthil, but Goundamani had a terrific equation with any star he shared screen space with, irrespective of a top hero like Superstar Rajnikanth or an upcoming actor. His combination with heroes like Sathyaraj, Karthik and even Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan has resulted in memorable comedy tracks that'll make you laugh your lungs out.
Goundamani had also played negative roles in several movies, and has been celebrated for his unique style of delivering counters to opposition, and it is his style which is being emulated by current comedians like Santhanam. Last seen in the movie Vaaimai, Goundamani is expected to act in few movies soon, as even actors like Dhanush still aspire to work with the legend.
